1234-ben Deesakna néven szerepel, bányász telepesekkel. 1332-ben temploma volt. Már a tatárjárás előtt megvolt Szent Péter tiszteletére szentelt temploma, melynek emlékét a Szent Péter-hegy és a Puszta-templom dűlőnév őrzi. A második templom már gótikus elemeket őrzött. Fali szentségfülkével rendelkezett, melynek felirata: „J.N.R.I. 1543”. Annyira romladozó lett, hogy a 20. század elején helyébe újat építettek.
A reformáció idején a lakosság református, majd unitárius lett. A templom 1618-tól reformátusoké. A katolikusok (bányászok) 1750–51-ben kaptak templomot, melyet dési ferencesek láttak el. 1755-ben önálló lelkészség lett, és 1770-től egyházmegyei plébánost kapott.
