The Cathedral Chapter of Alba Iulia is the legal successor of the ancient medieval cathedral chapter dissolved in 1556 by the Estates of Transylvania, and of the Transylvanian–Alba Iulia Cathedral Chapter restored in 1716.

Its membership consists of priests appointed from among those serving in ecclesiastical offices within the Archdiocese of Alba Iulia and in the diocesan central administration. Its activity is determined, in accordance with canon law and its statutes, by members possessing equal rights in decision-making. (Can. 115. §2)

The members of the Chapter are appointed by the Archbishop of the Archdiocese, after consulting the resident canons and with due regard for canon 509 §2.

The Cathedral Chapter of Alba Iulia consists of nine resident canons: the Provost, the Canon Theologian, the Canon Lector, the Canon Cantor, the Custos Canon, the Master Canon, the Scholastic Canon, the Archivist Canon, and the Penitentiary Canon. The Chapter is headed by the Provost, who is appointed by the Archbishop upon the recommendation of the canons. (Can. 507)

In addition to the resident canons, the Chapter also has honorary members. Honorary canons are not bound by any obligations of the Chapter.

Membership in the Chapter terminates upon reaching the age of 75, by resignation, or by dismissal by the Archbishop for a just cause.

After the termination of the mandate of a resident canon appointed to office, or in the case of one who, because of another assignment, is unable to participate in the activity of the Chapter, the Archbishop, upon the recommendation of the Chapter, may confer upon him the dignity of honorary member of the Cathedral Chapter and appoint another in his place.

"God is with us" (Mt 1:23)

With the Fall, the Evil One has entered our human world. His perversion manifests itself in many ways in our lives. We also experience traces of his corruption in our family life. Nowadays his corruption is even more present, visible in the life of families.

If we want it, it can happen with us. Thus the smile of Christ at Christmas will revitalize us to the depths of our souls. It will enlighten the atmosphere of this feast. Let us therefore embrace, protect and increase the grace and smile of Christ in our hearts. That way we will have a beautiful Christmas!
