The thoughts of dr. Jakubinyi György Archbishop Emeritus

The Mexican shrine of the Virgin Mary in Guadalupe (the apparition was on Dec. 9, 1531) is the largest Marian shrine in the world. During her apparitions (the ones that are recognized by the Church) the Holy Virgin does not say anything new, she just repeats what she told the servants in Cana: „Do whatever he tells you.” (John 2:5) Acc to our Lord Jesus the mission of the prophet Elijah will be fulfilled at the end of the world. Before the first arrival of the Messiah the mission of announcing him was fulfilled by John the Baptist. Let us be the ones to announce the arrival of the Messiah for our neighbours, let us prepare them to welcome Jesus as a child. Let us do what the Holy Virgin asks: „Do whatever he tells you.” This is what she tells us even today through the Church.

Prin Miercurea Cenușii intrăm în timpul sfânt al Postului Mare. Acest timp ne cheamă, în fiecare an, să contemplăm cu profunzime pătimirea, moartea și învierea lui Isus Cristos, misterul răscumpărării noastre. Nu comemorăm doar un eveniment istoric, ci iubirea cu care Dumnezeu a mers pentru noi până la moartea pe cruce.
