A templom szentélye a 15. században épült gótikus stílusban. A mostani templomot 1756-ban, Antal Albert polyáni plébános idejében emelték. Itt született Fekete János főesperes, gelencei plébános, aki 1952. március 25-én börtönben halt meg Ghenceán.
