2001-ben alakult a Sapientia egyetem csíkszeredai részlegének elindulásával. Az első kinevezett egyetemi lelkész P. Bakos Damján OFM volt, majd két év után P. Sebestyén Ottó SJ. 2006-ban Szokol Margit SSS kapott kinevezést a lelkészség vezetésére, a papi feladatokat P. Albert István Leánder OFM végezte.
