A Messiás eljövetelét várta a választott nép. Isten, mint jó pedagógus, elküldte hírnökeit, de a választott nép nem ismerte fel bennük Isten közeledését, még az előhírnökben, Keresztelő Jánosban sem, hanem kénye-kedve szerint bánt velük. Az adventi éber várakozásunk segítsen nekünk a jelek felismerésében, az előítéleteink leküzdésében, hogy a mindennapokban is észrevegyük Isten közeledését.
