November 29, the 1st Sunday of Advent
The prophets and saints were the nonconformists of their time: they would not fit into a structure that was distancing from God. They were awake and vigilant: they saw what was good, what was worthy, but they also saw the distance. The Advent Season reminds us to be similarly vigilant.
The Advent Season begins today as we prepare for Christmas. The four weeks of Advent prepare us for the arrival of the Lord, for his birth into our hearts. Each and every day of this Advent season we get closer to the feast. Each and every day gives us the opportunity to get closer to God. Let us start on our Advent journey and at the same time God starts toward us in order to meet at Christmas. The more we get ourselves spiritually prepared, the more intimate our meeting with Jesus becomes.

"God is with us" (Mt 1:23)

With the Fall, the Evil One has entered our human world. His perversion manifests itself in many ways in our lives. We also experience traces of his corruption in our family life. Nowadays his corruption is even more present, visible in the life of families.

If we want it, it can happen with us. Thus the smile of Christ at Christmas will revitalize us to the depths of our souls. It will enlighten the atmosphere of this feast. Let us therefore embrace, protect and increase the grace and smile of Christ in our hearts. That way we will have a beautiful Christmas!
