1263-ban jelentkezik először oklevelekben. Ekkor a kolozsmonostori apátság birtokát képezte, ami azt feltételezi, hogy már a 13. században temploma is volt. Templomát Szent Márton tiszteletére szentelték. 1373-ban tűz áldozata lett a templom. A helyébe épült új kőtemplom a 14. század végére készült el. 1444-ben Albert plébánosnak káplánja is volt és tanulókat tartott. A templom gótikus szentélye 15. századi, tornya 1827-ből való. A reformáció idején a reformátusoké lett. A katolikusok filiaként, magánlakásban jutottak imaházhoz a 18. században. 1899-ben magánlakásból készült a mai templom, a Bocskay várkastélyból és a váralmási kápolnából hozott berendezésekkel ellátva. 1926-ban szervezték plébániává.
