A 13. században már volt templom. A reformáció idején lutheránusok lettek a hívek. 1858-ban épült a katolikusok számára kápolna, majd 1884-ben templom, ezzel egy időben megalakult a plébánia és Kiskapus fi liája volt. Később helyben lakó papjuk is volt, 1994-ig Dani József plébános haláláig. Ekkor csatolták Szentágotához, majd 2004-től Kiskapusról látják el megint. Bár a reformáció idején itt is lutheránusok lettek a hívek, a 19. század végén lassan mégis újraéledt a katolikus egyházközség. Volt katolikus iskolája is 1920-tól, amelyet több ízben is bezártak, majd 1948-ban államosították.
